What is the difference between Red, Blue and Gold Teams?

The Serious Cricket Hampshire Junior Championship splits in two tiers for each age group. The RED teams are in Tier 1. This is where you will find a harder challenge for that age group, usually these are the more confident players of the older age group and the RPC players within the age band - although during transition to hard ball this is slightly different for each players development. Please discuss with your child's lead coach any concerns around this. The BLUE and GOLD teams play in Tier 2 and this is more about adjusting to the age group banding- often there is a change in pitch length, type or size of ball, hard/soft ball. So this would consist of players of the younger age group or those less confident or newer to the sport of the older age group. Where possible Trojans recognise that players want to train and play with their friends so we try to keep age group cohorts together as much as possible while recognising that player development varies for player to player.

What is RPC?

RPC stands for Regional Performance Centre and it is path of the player pathway for developing high ability players. Have a look at Hampshire's information on this. At the end of the season players who are regularly playing for teams, taking wickets, scoring runs and making catches for teams are put forward by the coaches and are invited by Hampshire Cricket to attend an assessment to see if RPC would be suitable for them.
